This is a genuine Art Deco
working pocket/fob watch Circa 1920.
The watch has a wind up mechanism.
The watch is sterling silver and is
encrusted with glittering marcasites
and is abstract all round.
The fob part is also encrusted in
marcasites and down the chain
leading to the watch.
Pocket/Fob watches were used
before wrist watches came into use
and are still in use today.
The fob part of the watch was
attached to a pocket or lapel
to prevent them being lost.
Nurses were, and still are, for that matter,
great users of pocket/fob
watches.
The watches hang upside down
from the brooch pin and are
easier to look at than a wrist watch.
It weighs 16.7 grams.
In very good condition
it looks stunning when worn.
The dimensions are
25mm across and 50mm down -
that's 1 inch
by 2 inches.
