Product Description

This beautiful Georgian Mourning Hair Gold Brooch is Dated 1828.
The brooch is set with onyx stones which are faceted in 18ct gold.
The gold is beautifully engraving around the glass window which shows the plaited hair of the deceased.
The onyx stones – approx 1.4cts in total - bring a simple elegance and serenity to the brooch.
The reverse of the brooch is engraved with the inscription “Joseph Dowson, 23rd Feb 1824 age 78”.
The back has been strengthened where the pin attaches.
The brooch is in very good condition and looks beautiful when worn.
It weighs 6.1 grams.
It measures 25mm by 17mm – that’s 1 inch by ¾ an inch.
